SANDFEST

We went to Port Aransas last weekend for the annual Texas Sandfest. One of our friends is a Master Builder in the sand sculpture competition. We had a blast, even though we never saw the sun!! I know, it was gorgeous across the whole state of Texas, except where we were. Like I said, it didn't bother the girls at all. Although, because of all the rain, I hardly had the camera out. Here are a couple that I took. Enjoy!
Well, it looks like I got the dragon one on twice. I was trying to get a big castle, with arches, etc. Was pretty neat. The big dragon is showing the little dragon a small scale of the castle and surrounding, with a dotted line showing how to attack. It's title was "Castle Attack, 101". Cute!
The next one was titled, "And on the Seventh Day, He Rested". I thought that was neat. Then the one with the babies. I missed the title of it. Just thought it was neat. There were dozens and dozens of sculptures. So amazing. We can't wait to go next year!

More Pics

Well, I noticed some of the pictures didn't upload. I'm trying to get them. I've tried 3 times now. If this time doesn't work I'll try later.

Russell's & Cody's trip to Jinataga, Nicaragua

These are just miscellaneous pictures from the guys' mission trip to Nicaragua. The bus was the usual mode of transportation and Russell said that really, the only thing that needed to work on it was the horn!
There is a view outside their room. They stayed in a woman's private home, but she rents out her rooms as a hotel. They would get on the bus each morning and travel to some little town to work.
Russell wound up being the optician. He said he learned in 15 minutes what it took Mike 4 years to learn. He said he was going to talk to Mike about going into practice with him! ha The picture of the little boy is one that really touched Russell's heart. He was blind and had been from birth. Cody said it was probably congenital cataracts. It's a condition easily fixed by surgery, but the boy's family couldn't afford the surgery. Russell made arrangements for him to be taken to Managua to the hospital there for the surgery. We are supposed to hear from the local preacher when that's been done.
Other views are of the town of Jinotaga. As you can see, it's mostly dirt streets. Russell said the whole country of Nicaragua was really filthy. Cody said they all have parasites. Each patient he would see he would ask if they wanted medicine for their parasites. The interpreter would talk to them and then each one would shake his head "No!". Cody's interpreter finally told him that what he was actually asking them was "Would you like some parasites?" I guess they thought he was crazy!! ha
I included some pictures of Cody working. One was a lady with a large cyst on her back. No doctor would remove it because she couldn't pay for the surgery. Cody removed it and you can tell by looking at her how much better off she is now. Also, there are some pictures of Cody removing a head parasite from a boy. He said the worm was quite a bit bigger than he had expected! I could have included some pictures of a horrible open ulcerated wound on a woman's foot, but I can hardly stand to look at that myself!
Well, I've tried 3 times to post this. This is going to be my last try. Hopefully it will work!

Chalkbluff '06... I know a little late, but they are finally off my camera.

Relaxing by the camp fire. After a hard day of play, we all sat by the fire recalling all the wonderful memories from Chalkbluffs in the past.
Squirt gun fight! Well, as much of one as you can have with a four year old, two year old, 2 one year olds, and of course a young at heart 23 year old. :0) Amy was cought in the somewhat of a cross fire, Colton kept squirting........ himslef in the face, Emma and Lane had their own little battle going on, I have no idea where Ally was, and I, of course, was stuck with the all so wonderful job of refill the guns.
Playing in the river! SPLASH!!! Lane and Colton found it hilarious when the water would splash up at them after they threw "big rocks" in to the river.
I'm getting ready!! between eating, playing, swiming and not enough napping, Ally was ready to get of the go for some more fun!
Ally was ready to go swimmin'. She kept walking off toward the water, telling us to "come on."
She's so precious!
Are you Ready?!?!?! Emma was ready to go to the river. We weren't getting ready fast enough I guess. She kept opening the door checking on us to make sure we were "gettin' a move on." Wow, what nautral poise.
in this picture Colton is a little wet in the face. He kept saying his didn't work. But only after he told me to stop squirting water at him. Yeah, Blame the Aunt.
In this picture, we were in the middle of packing up the cabin. Amy and I walked outside and Lane was just siting there on the bench with the entire bag of Cheetos. I went to take his picture, and instead of smileing and saying CHEESE.... Lane Said "CHEETOS."
